My good friend Yunah got married in Grenada this past January, and I had the distinct pleasure of helping out with all her wedding stationery needs! Like me, Yunah is down here in Grenada accompanying her husband while he attends school at SGU. We met just over a year ago, but it seems like we’ve known each other for years. There’s just something about living on a small, tropical island with limited resources that brings people together. You learn to do without, to share what you have, and to ask for help when you need it. Yunah and I bonded quickly over our love for eating, cooking, and exploring new places. We still get homesick now and then, but it sure makes the time go by faster when you’re spending it with good friends. :)
Since Yunah and Jin were having a “destination” wedding of sorts (for all the guests, at least!), they wanted to have an invitation that gave their guests a taste of Grenada. We incorporated seashells, botanical leaves, and little touches of Grenada here and there on all the wedding stationery, while keeping the overall aesthetic simple, classic, and elegant.
Here’s a shot I took on my phone on their wedding day (gotta love the panoramic feature on the new iPhone OS). You don’t see it here, but just a couple minutes later, there was a full rainbow over them!
And I wanted to share with you a few more photos from their wedding day taken by our friend, Kat Fung.
You may remember Jia and Andrew from the Shang Chen Photo Giveaway a year or so ago. They won a design credit from Lavender’s Blue, which they used toward a custom wedding invitation design. Jia loves green and all things green – plants, flowers, tree, and grass – and so she wanted to incorporate those elements into the design, while keeping it simple and charming. Jia mentioned that she really loved the invitation suite that I did for Esther + Ben, so I channeled a bit of that aesthetic into these invitations as well. It resulted in this fun, folksy wedding suite, complete with little mushrooms, acorns, and plenty of grass and flowers!

I just wanted to share with you the coordinating stationery components to Hoi + Nick’s wedding invitations that I worked on a while back! We kept it really simple and used mainly the same floral image from their invitations, with a few variations here and there.

And here’s a quick photo by John Yao of SimplyTwo Photography from their wedding day. Hoi was such a beautiful bride, and I was so blessed to have been part of their special day. :) (That’s me on Hoi’s right!)
I recently completed a wedding invitation suite for a super sweet couple, Anna and Mark, who are getting married in August in Texas. Their invitations were featured today on the wedding stationery site, Oh So Beautiful Paper. Click on over there to see the feature and to read more about the process.
A big congratulations to Jia + Andrew, who won the grand prize from Shang Chen Photo’s amazing giveaway that included full-day wedding photography coverage and also a $200 credit toward custom stationery and paper products from Lavender’s Blue!
Can’t wait to work with you, Jia and Andrew! I’ll be contacting you soon. :)

I’m really excited to tell you about a fabulous giveaway my friend Shang has started over at ShangChenPhoto! It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Shang’s work (she did such an amazing job on our engagement and wedding pics!), but I haven’t really had a chance to mention how much I’ve been inspired by her courage and determination to pursue her dreams. My admiration only deepened all the more when she recently told me she was planning to give away an entire wedding photography package! Her grand prize includes not only full-day wedding photography coverage, but also an engagement session, guest book, print credit, and a $400 travel credit! The grand prize will go to “an awesome couple who has an extraordinary love story.” There will also be something for the runner up!
I think it’s wonderful that Shang is so passionate about giving back in such a generous and meaningful way. And so when she invited me to partner with her in this giveaway, I was absolutely honored and excited about the opportunity to participate. Included in Shang’s grand prize package, I’m excited to announce, is a $200 credit toward custom stationery design and paper products from Lavender’s Blue!
I’ve learned from my own journey that wedding stationery is what sets the tone for the big day, with the save-the-date cards and invitations (and oftentimes, a corresponding website) being the first things that your guests see long before the wedding arrives. I’ve worked with several couples in the past to do custom wedding stationery, and the collaboration process is always a privilege for me. I appreciate people opening themselves to me, sharing their vision and dreams with me, and trusting me with their stories. My task is to find a design that will, at a glimpse, convey some of the depth and beauty in each couple’s unique journey. It’s been such a treat creating looks for the playful romantics that Esther and Ben are, Karina and Bryan’s refined elegance, and Cathy and Daniel’s bright and sweet personalities. And to the lucky couple who will win Shang’s grand prize, I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and working together to tell your story.
